Lindsey Blauer Ciechanowski, founder of Blauer Law, PLLC

Meet Lindsey Blauer Ciechanowski

I didn't go to law school to be another stuffy attorney hiding behind legalese. I started Blauer Law because Louisville families and small business owners deserve an estate planning partner who speaks plainly, shows up personally, and stays with them through life's biggest transitions.

Why Law? Why Estate Planning?

My path to estate planning started long before law school. Growing up seeing family members practice in different areas of the law, I saw different ways in which the law could (and sometimes couldn't) serve people's needs. I also saw the impact that proper planning and quality representation could have on the outcome of the situation.

Later, working with various small businesses and law firms, I watched organizations struggle with legal frameworks that were technically correct but didn't serve their real needs. I saw businesses with operating agreements that didn't match how decisions were actually made.

When I went to law school I knew I didn't want to follow the traditional legal path, join a big law firm, and get stuck in the billable hours grind. I pursued both my J.D. and M.B.A. because I understood that great legal planning requires understanding the business side and great business planning requires understanding the legal side.

Throughout my early career I honed my ability to translate technical legal concepts for a diverse audience. Those experiences helped me understand more deeply both how businesses function and how people function. More recently I spent several years running, and eventually owning, the family business. Those years helped me understand how to create a quality customer experience. I now specialize in estate planning because it's where the technical meets the deeply personal – where getting it right means families are protected and legacies are preserved.

What Drives Me

The moment that crystallized my approach came during a conversation with a young parent who had put off estate planning for three years, because it felt overwhelming and expensive. That's when I knew: Louisville deserved an estate planning practice built on relationships, not transactions. A practice where clients have direct attorney access, not layers of paralegals. Where technology makes things easier, not more impersonal. Where planning evolves with clients through every stage of life.

Why Solo Practice

I could have joined an established firm. But traditional firms operate on the transaction model: draft documents, collect payment, move to next client. I wanted to build something different—a practice where ongoing relationships are the foundation, where I know my clients' stories and they're not starting over with a stranger when life changes.

Opening Blauer Law gave me the freedom to practice law the way I believe it should be practiced: with integrity, accessibility, and genuine care for every client's unique situation.

Personal Connection to Louisville

Louisville has become home in every sense of the word. My husband and I moved here after graduate school, and we quickly discovered why people love this city. The perfect blend of southern hospitality and urban energy, the incredible parks and food scene, the genuine community spirit, Louisville offers everything we wanted for raising our daughter (and our French Bulldog, who is an integral member of the family).

Although we spend time outside of Louisville camping and exploring national parks all over the country, we're deeply rooted here. You'll find us at any one of Louisville's great parks on weekends, supporting the arts at the Kentucky Center, or eating at one of our amazing local restaurants. We're not just working in Louisville – we're building our lives here, raising our family here, and investing in this community's future.

As parents, we understand firsthand the concerns that drive estate planning decisions for families – the late-night worries about "what if something happens to us," the difficulty of choosing guardians, and the importance of protecting our daughter's future. That's why Blauer Law is committed to serving Louisville families and businesses. This is our home, and I'm honored to help protect what matters most to the people who make this city special.

Values & Philosophy

Relationships Over Transactions

Estate planning isn't a product—it's a partnership. We don't complete your documents and disappear. We build long-term relationships that evolve as your life changes, from your first will through business succession and beyond. Our lifecycle partnership model means we're here for the long haul.

Clarity Without Condescension

Legal planning doesn't have to be intimidating. I explain everything in plain English, answer every question (no matter how "basic" you think it is), and ensure you truly understand your plan. Smart planning comes from informed decisions, not blind trust in your attorney.

Integration, Not Isolation

Your estate plan, business structure, and long-term care planning don't exist in separate bubbles. I take a holistic view of your legal needs and ensure everything works together seamlessly. Your business interests are addressed in your estate plan. Your family's needs inform your business succession strategy. Everything connects.

Modern Service, Personal Attention

Technology should enhance our relationship, not replace it. I use client portals, video consultations, secure document sharing, and digital tools to make planning convenient—but you'll always have direct access to me, not a paralegal. Technology removes friction; personal attention ensures quality.

The Lifecycle Partnership Approach

Lifecycle partnership means I'm committed to growing with you. When you work with Blauer Law, you're not hiring a lawyer for a one-time project—you're gaining a legal partner who will be there through every major life transition.

First baby? I'm here to help you establish guardianship designations and financial protection.

Starting a business? I'm here to ensure your business structure and estate plan work together.

Lost a spouse? I'm here to guide you through updates with compassion and clarity.

Ready to retire? I'm here to help with succession planning or long-term care planning.

That continuity matters because your attorney should already know your story, your family, and your goals when life changes. You shouldn't have to start from scratch with a new lawyer, explaining everything again, hoping they understand what matters to you.

How It's Different from Traditional Law Firms

Most law firms treat estate planning like a product: complete your documents, collect payment, move on to the next client. If your life changes and you need updates, you're essentially a new client again—start from scratch, explain your situation to a new attorney (or the same attorney who doesn't remember you), pay full price again, hope they understand your needs.

I reject that model. Our lifecycle partnership means:

  • I remember you and your family
  • Updates happen in context of our relationship
  • Pricing is transparent and fair for ongoing clients
  • You have priority access when you need me
  • Annual check-ins keep your plan current
  • Subscription service option provides ongoing support and education
